So, you’ve got your eye on a tech-tastic career in software development, data analysis engineering or even, dare we say it, artificial intelligence? Good for you - in that case it’s time to go back to school to study maths and physics! Hey, hold up, we hear you cry, I want to be in technology; so what’s that got to do with maths and physics? Quite a lot actually. IT and technology are all about analysis and problem-solving and this is where a solid grounding in these traditional subjects will help you to fulfil your dreams.

Maths and physics will give you a solid grounding in tech-related skills

In this article, we’re looking at how getting your head around these core subjects can help you to get ahead in your new career and, even better, it’s possible to do it all online.

The Importance of Maths and Physics

If, like me, maths and physics were not your strong suit back in school, well done for staying with me so far. While technology might be a pretty big deal today, maths and physics have always been instrumental in moving our world forward - and they can also help with your new career. Subjects like computer science, engineering and software revolve around algorithms, problem solving and data - so all of these subjects really do go hand in hand. OK, buhow do you take all of this (along with perhaps a little reluctance) and apply it in the real world? There’s an online course for that!

Unlike a traditional classroom setting, online tutoring gives students the opportunity to work at their own pace, with the guidance of a tutor who can adapt the lessons to suit them. For example, an Edumentors A-level physics tutor can provide tailored explanations of complex physics concepts helping to build the foundation necessary for higher education … or a career in tech. While online learning may once have had a bit of a reputation as “not real though, is it?” things are very much different these days. Busy lives require modern solutions and internet-based study has this in spades due to its flexibility and cost effectiveness.

Building Confidence Through Targeted Support

The problem with classroom learning - either full-time or in the evenings - is that it can be overwhelming for slow learners or those who are returning to studying after a fair amount of time. Not so with online courses. The beauty of this type of study is that it involves one to one learning.

Online learning gives you the chance of one to one tuition

Why is this important? Picture the scene - you’re struggling to get to grips with a particular module or concept but you’re either too embarrassed to ask for help or your waving hand gets ignored because the teacher is simply too busy with others. This can quickly lead to disillusionment and frustration when your maths tuition just doesn’t add up.

Web tutors, on the other hand, are able to give you their full attention by guiding you through complicated concepts with the kind of personal support and attention that you deserve.

Not only does this mean that you’re able to master the subject more quickly, you’ll also grow in confidence as you forge ahead with your studies. This type of teaching has the added advantage of being able to harness the power of interactive online tools like video, exercises and diagrams to help fix even the trickiest bits of information firmly in your mind.

The Role of Online Tutoring in Developing Problem-Solving Skills

When you kick off your new tech career, you’ll be expected to be able to think on your feet - and fast. In these jobs, every moment counts, so you’ll need to pack a ton of problem solving skills under your belt if you want to survive. As you can imagine, you need to develop critical thinking skills which, in turn, allow you to think outside the box with thise pesky techy problems.

Tech problems need strong logical ability to solve

While you might not think of these subjects as creative ones, that’s where you’d be wrong. All of these are about finding solutions to issues that won’t appear in any manual - and you do that by taking the problem apart to find out what sticks and how it ticks. For some of us, maths at school was a dull, dry torture chamber that seemed to have no bearing on our day- to-day lives but, these days, that’s really not the case. Whether you’re developing software for a new game or building business infrastructure, these are tools that are vital in helping you to get the job done accurately and in a timely manner.

Online courses now make this easier than ever by being fully inclusive as well as giving you the opportunity to learn something new - while still getting the rent paid - due to its uber-flexibility, With the help of a personal tutor, even the most nervous of students are able to start whizzing through complex problems like a pro. Web courses are also ideal for those with mobility issues or other impairments that might make on-site learning problematic.

Online courses give you so much scope to acquire skills in whichever way you want

Wrapping Up

While the immediate goal of your course might be to finish up and get a qualification, it’s actually so much more than that. Learning these subjects hands you a load of hard and soft skills - all wrapped up in a bow - which will funnel into your new vocation in technology. Critical and analytical thinking is something that can absolutely be taught - and learned - and this funnels into supersizing your problem-solving mindset as a whole.

With a busy life, you may feel that you just don’t have the time or money to spend hours sitting in a classroom - and that's just fine, because you don’t have to!  Online learning is all about flexibility; so you can complete your studies at home, in the office or maybe even on the bus. It also means that you can make your own timetable regarding when you study and for how long.

The modern world requires modern solutions and making smart choices to make the most of your time. Taking your studies out of the classroom and onto the internet is a great way of multitasking and gaining a qualification on your own terms.
